Welcome to Moonlight Garden!
Hello there! I'm a late Gen-X nerd who has been online since the golden age of personal websites in the late 1990s and early 2000s, just like this one! Designing this website has been a trip back into my memory to remember HTML, and a learning process as I continue to figure out CSS and Javascript even now. The site may not look like much now, but as I learn more, maybe it'll get a little more interesting. We shall see.
Anyway, that's all well and good, but the real reason this site exists is to be my little corner of the Web; just a humble site tucked away in a corner of the internet safe from large corporations and data miners. It's time to get back to basics. I've had a homepage of some kind for a long time, and this latest iteration will continue in the same way. Moonlight Garden is where I'll collect my various interests and share them, and if you find it interesting too, hooray! Mainly, I'm just here to be a fan of various things, and share links to other things I think are interesting online. The old Web was so much more chill.
As for why my homepage is called Moonlight Garden, I wanted a name not tied to an IP like many of my previous homepages or blogs have been. I like the moon and darkness, so that's the "moonlight", and I ended up landing on "garden" as a metaphor for the website itself where I plant - so to speak - each of my interests. I called these sections Window Boxes in the previous version of my homepage when it was hosted elsewhere.
What you'll find here
As mentioned above, this website is a place to collect my various interests and share them. Just check out the navigation bar on the left to see what I have at the moment. Updates and new additions will come as I think of them and have time to put them together. This isn't a blog or social media, so no need to feel obligated to a constant stream of posting!
And if you want a more constant stream, I have that, too! You can also find me on Mastodon where I post regular updates on my nerdly pursuits.
So, thank you for visiting my Moonlight Garden!
